I give thanks to God, our Father! So many reasons in general to be praising God. I certainly do not take any of those blessings for granted and am very thankful for all God does for me. However, when something happens during normal activities of the day where it gives me pause to stop what I was doing and be in the moment, I thank God for them. I feel like it is an extra special visit from Jesus.
For example; this past week I have had these moments when I gave pause, took the moments into my mind, (So I could remember to write it in my journal.) and my heart. And I smiled! Sometimes I see these moments as a “visit” from our loved ones who died. It makes me feel Jesus, because He loves His children so much, lets me know that Russell, Shawna, Tylee or Blake, just wanted Him to come by and let me know that they said, “Hi! Just wanted you to know we love you!” So, when I saw a tiny ladybug on top of our air conditioner cover, last week, I naturally thought of our Ladybug, Tylee. Then I thanked Jesus for His beautiful creation.
Rhonda, our daughter, works at a local grocery store as a casher. She called me after work one day this week to let me know that a young woman came into her line and asked Rhonda if she was Russell’s sister. Rhonda said that she was. The young woman told Rhonda that she was a friend of Russell and Shawna’s. She asked how we were all doing and told Rhonda to say hello to us for her. She said it made her kind of happy because out of the blue, someone whom she hasn’t seen in years, recognized her and also knew her brother and sister-in-law. I told her, just perhaps, Jesus had come to tell her that Russell and Shawna said, “Hi! Just wanted to let you know we love you!” I thanked God for sending this young woman to the place Rhonda works, that she recognized Rhonda and for the happiness it gave her.
I thanked God for the years that were given to me with my dear son, my daughter-in-law, my Tylee and my Blake. Albeit, too short a time for us. If we had our own way, of course, we’d still have them here with us.
I was shopping the other day and as I was walking around in the home décor section, I noticed, sitting on a glass shelf were three pair of ceramic, decorated with sequence and shimmers of gold, stilettos! Wow! I immediately grinned from ear to ear. I whispered, “Hello, Shawna!” I thanked God for giving us such a sweet daughter-in-law.
My darling Blake comes to mind when I see the most precious, chubby-cheeked, baby anywhere I go. Especially the ones who smile or wave back at me. I thank God for our precious Blake and those adorable chubby cheeks.
And it goes without saying that Jesus is quite busy staying up with all of our Tylee’s, “Hello’s.” I see Tylee when I see beautiful flowers, a gorgeous sunset or rainbow. I see Tylee when I see another little girl prancing around with princes’ dresses on. I thank God for our amazing little granddaughter.
I have always loved to be outdoors and enjoy God’s beautiful creation, but now I do it with such purpose. I take in the moment more deeply to really see the beauty of God’s creation. It could be that He just might send me a little sign that one of our loved ones is saying hello. But more importantly, I praise Him for His beautiful creation.
Psalm 17:7 “Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by Your right hand.” (NIV)
Psalm 19:1-6 “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.”
