What If?”

We couldn’t have survived this horrible tragedy if it wasn’t for the Lord! We have gone through many trials and sufferings through the years. I didn’t always trust God and there were times I got angry with Him. At one point, I threw my Bible across the room and told God to leave me alone! I’m happy to say that, in His mercy and grace, He wooed me back to Himself. I’m so thankful He did. It was a lonely time for me. I learned a lot about myself, my walk with the Lord, and Who God is. All the trials and sufferings have helped me to grow in my relationship with the Lord because I chose to let God work in my life. I learned to trust Him. I learned to rely on Him for everything. We learn so much about God when we read His Word. Because His Word is alive I can “listen” to His voice as He reveals Himself to me. God enables us to listen, through His Holy Spirit, to what He wants to do for us when coping with tragedies, trials and suffering. He is willing and able to give us a way out. He gives us Hope for the future.

This life is difficult! But, it is also a blessing. We can choose to waste this gift of life or make the most of it. Even when suffering knocks at our life’s door. With faith and obedience in God, He can turn our suffering into blessings*. I’ve seen it! I’ve lived it! It is a whole lot better than giving up or staying angry at God. There is no Hope, no healing, in this approach. I challenge you to think about why you get angry at God for the bad things that happen to you. Where does taking this approach get you? Does it make you feel any better? What gives you strength to go on? What gives you hope for healing and coping? Don’t you feel lonely when you take this approach?

This life we live will run its course. How we choose to live it is up to us. I choose faith over disbelief. I choose love over hate. I choose peace over strife. I choose Hope over hopelessness. I choose joy over despair. I choose humility over pride. I choose to trust God, even when I don’t understand the “whys” of the trials I face. I choose to tell others what God has done for me, for our family and friends. I choose to sow where I am planted; although it may be through tears.

There is a better future. Through all the storms and conflicts of life, I can face tomorrow, because Scripture tells me that there is HOPE. Even in my sufferings I can still “fight the good fight and lay hold of Eternal Life!” (1Timothy 6:12 NKJV) No more heartache. No more pain. No more suffering. No more tears. No more death.

My faith in God is not in vain. I whole heartedly believe that God is a God who loves us unconditionally. He weeps with us as we face heartache and pain. He desires to help us out of the pit of despair and firmly plant our feet on solid ground. These aren’t just words to me. I live it! Everyday!

(2 Peter 1:19 NIV) “We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.”

WHAT IF” I don’t believe in God?

I also know there are those who don’t believe in God. They too, are suffering lose and hurting deeply. Or, they may be so angry at God they want nothing to do with Him. Their hearts are broken. They have no hope. Sitting in the pit of despair, they may just want to give up. In this case, I encourage them to seek out trusted friends. Talk with family members. And, certainly, seek professional help.

If you don’t believe in God and are going through life without the peace and comfort only He can give, I challenge you to seek out the Truth for yourself. He will be found if you seek Him with all your heart. He is waiting for you to come to Him.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8 NKJV)

I will pray that God will reveal Himself to you in a mighty way. I pray you will seek Him with all your heart. He is waiting to comfort you.

“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, CHOOSE LIFE, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and length of your days…” (Deuteronomy 30:19-20 NKJV)
