Questions for Grieving

Grieving the loss of a loved one is hard. Talking about it is essential, and the questions here can spark a
conversation between you and a friend who wants to help.
1. Take some time to make a list of the emotions you’ve been feeling. Which ones are more dominant during the
day? During the night?
2. How often have you been talking to others? Who has been most helpful for you?
3. What do you remember most about your loved one or your relationship together?
4. Do you ever feel restless or in “high gear”? Do you feel the need to be constantly busy, beyond what’s normal for
you?
5. Do you find yourself acting in ways that might be harmful to you over time?
6. Is there some aspect of what you’re experiencing that makes you wonder about whether you’re normal or going
crazy? Do you feel stuck in your grief in some way, unable to move on?
7. Are there specific questions you have about death or grieving that you want to talk about in the weeks ahead?
